Enna of Blythe
Enna of Blythe (she/her) is a character played by Drew/Copper (any) in Arc 2: The Disappearing Act.
Description
Enna is a level 7 rune knight fighter and an air genasi. Fairly tall and bulky for an air genasi at 5’11”, Enna blames both these traits on her mother being half dwarf/ half elf. Her skin is a stormier/greyer version of cornflower blue. She has a shaved head with a circlet tattooed on. Where her eyes should be is a long healed hash of scars. She rarely goes without her adamantine armor and greatsword. Enna was always told she was a good, heroic, and kind person when she was younger and now she’s terrified of losing those descriptors. Before acting, she always asks herself, “Is this what the best, most honorable version of me would do?” She likes to talk with people about current events and gossip, but isn’t likely to divulge about herself. Her biggest flaw is believing that she has to be good enough to make up for when others fall short–she never blames others for their shortcomings but never forgives her own.Backstory
She was going down the folk hero route of a fighter before her accident. She trained with the giants in the runic arts before feeling like reentering the world–inspired by hearing of an adventuring guild for genasi. She works with them, offering training for martial adventurers and is passing on the runic arts to any who are interested in learning. Vienna Tanner (later known as Enna of Blythe) was born of a hurricane and the only person to survive it in the town of Ingallis. A storm ravaged miles of the coast, taking countless lives, and left only in its wake a very pregnant woman... a very newly very pregnant woman. This left Blythe Tanner (Enna’s mother) with a lot on her plate through Enna’s childhood years. Between mourning her family, searching for a secure job, and taking care of a young air genasi, Blythe had no space for more chaos, and she instilled Enna with as much responsibility and calm as she could. The last bit of fancy Blythe indulged in before getting to work is Enna’s name: Vienna. The name of a distant city fabled to be filled with music and the finest architecture in Kauvet. It was Blythe’s dream to visit. The responsibility Enna was raised with translated in her early teenage years to her vigilantism. Blythe was a traveling leatherworker at the time, and every town they arrived in, Enna set out to right any injustice she saw. It got her in amazing amounts of trouble, ending with many injuries and lectures from her mother and many quick exits from whatever town they were in before the city guard sought retribution. This continued until Enna was just a few months past 16. Her mother found her in their rented room, covered in blood and newly blinded. The only answer Enna offered was “There was an accident.” and Blythe never pushed for more information. Months passed with Enna adjusting to her blindness, and even once she figured out how to use her breezes to perceive the world, she stayed out of trouble. She struggled to find meaning to her life when she was too scared to make a difference in the world around her. It was on her 17th birthday that Blythe told her about the giants. As the tale goes, long ago, Blythe’s brother Kador sought more than the simple life of a tanner. He wanted to help people and change the world around him. He left the family home to hone his skill, and after a few years wrote about a settlement of giants in the Northern mountains that knew of ancient magics that could make him a better fighter. He stayed there for years, learning the runic arts. The last the family ever heard of him was a letter saying that he was leaving the settlement to change the world. With her mother’s encouragement, Enna left for the giant settlement just a week later. It was a harrowing journey, even though she skirted the tundra as much as possible. From there she just wandered the mountains, hoping to find some word or sign of the giants. It was a giant who ended up finding her–crying without tears in frustration and feelings of failure. He introduced himself as Jenkins, a hill giant, and led her to his village. She was welcomed there, even found that the village had lodgings set aside for travelers that sought the knowledge of the giants. There was only one other there when she arrived, a rune knight who was nearing the end of his stay. Once he left, Enna found herself fast friends with Jenkins, even as she was busy with training and classes and being put to work helping with general village tasks. She had been with the giants for four months when the next traveler arrived: a half-orc named Ta’estra, a wizard/scholar wanting to observe and record the way of life of any settlements in the Northern Mountains. Enna and Ta’estra quickly began to court, and after three years of dating became promised to each other. The engagement token that Enna gave her was a leather armband that Enna made herself, the emblem Enna’s greatsword and Ta’estra’s wand crossed. The engagement token that Ta’estra gave her was a locket containing a curl of Ta’estra’s hair. It was a year after this that Jenkins asked Enna why she was still there; she’d learned all the giants had to teach at her level, and she needed to go out and do something. More than that, Jenkins mentioned that he noticed that she was stagnating here, seeming distant and withdrawn when others didn’t seek her out. It hurt to realize that he was right, that she had outgrown this place. She and Ta’estra talked about what they wanted their lives to look like going forward. It was time for Enna to move forward, but Ta’estra still had a lot more research to do so they decided to make their relationship a long distance one, and their engagement a long term one. It was easy enough to leave once she decided to pursue her calling again, the call to go out into the world and help the people she meets. The giants gave her their blessing to teach about the runes, to teach everything she learned with them. It was in her early travels that she officially stopped introducing herself as Vienna Tanner. Too many people assumed she’d been to the city Vienna, and too many people assumed she was a tanner by trade and not just name. That’s how names among the common people tend to go, but Enna had no intention of making any leather pieces for a long long time. She still wanted to honor her mother, though. Hence, Enna of Blythe. It was a few years of aimless traveling before she signed onto the guild. She loves to teach others how to fight and do good, but she loves doing good herself too. It’s become a personal goal of hers to train the city guard wherever she can; every member of the city guard she’s ever met in any city she’s ever been has been absolutely useless in her opinion. Iit was helpful in her vigilante days but now it seems like a waste. And she now has a party she works well with when she does go out adventuring. Ta’estra is a level 10 wizard now, and travels studying more cultures as well as giving guest lectures at universities. They’ve agreed to hold off on marriage until they’re ready to settle down, and for now they stay in touch via the sending spell and meeting up when they happen to be in the same area. Her sense of responsibility is fulfilled by this life. The passion of a hurricane is not.During Arc 2
