Doctor Payne

Doctor Payne (he/him) is a character played by Cole (they/them) in The Curious Case of Bryoth the Lazy. He is an orc, path of the zealot barbarian 5/fighter 2, and a gladiator.

Description

Doctor Payne is 6'8" and 270 lbs of musclebound, mean, green, medicine-practicing machine. His match attire is a sleeveless open white-collared shirt and bowtie, with shiny purple pants and boots. His head is shaved, his beard is styled, his body is scarred, his mug is mean, and he is visibly ready to throw down.   Doctor Payne is boisterous and aggressive, and always flexing his medical expertise and propensity for punishing. He never breaks kayfabe for any reason and generally assumes most events in his life are part of a wrestling storyline. He is prone to threatening others and won't let an insult go un-headlocked, but he does remember his doctor's oath: do plenty of harm, but patch 'em up after.

Backstory

Doctor Payne was a celebrated face of the Fantasy Wrestling Federation, despite his unorthodox and aggressive methodology for medical (mal)practice. However, his arch nemesis Doctor Brain, the heel psychologist, called the ethics of Payne's techniques into question and masterminded his heel turn and fall from grace. Doctor Payne swore an eternal grudge against that armchair poindexter and has been questing ever since to kick off his redemption arc and show "Doctor" Brain the benefits of a prescription of whoop to treat his ass.

Trivia

  • He's so deep in character that he frequently forgets that he doesn't actually have any real medical training, though he has accidentally given some effective chiropractic adjustments.
  • He has absolutely no conception of how little he knows about many complex topics and loves to assert his wildly incorrect conjectures.
  • He'll swoon for anybody who compliments his physique, wrestling technique, or medical knowledge.
  • Cole has made a heroforge of Doctor Payne, seen here.
