Dinah Venjor

Dinah Venjor (they/she) is a character played by Drew/coppercurls (any pronouns) in the Trouble with Dreams one-shot. They are a kalashtar peace cleric with the acolyte background.

Description

She is a purple girlie with too many eyes. Though not actually a girlie, they present almost exclusively as a woman because they are Enamored with femininity.   They are a pacifist, though she has made her peace with the violence of adventuring as a means to ensure a peaceful death for as many people as they can. Overwhelmingly an optimist, preaches open acceptance, and tries to keep their judgements of other philosophies of existence to themself unless she thinks they are harming the people nearby. Above all, she aspires to be a calming presence.

Backstory

Camryn Venjor (he/him) dedicated himself to the goddess Sune as a young man, pledged himself to the church closest to his home village. It was his main focus for just over half a decade, until his life changed. One day while meditating in the gardens, he drifted to sleep and met the quori known as Bellamri (they/them) in the Dreamsea. Camryn was scared to lose what he felt as a growing friendship and he invited them to visit him in the mortal realm. Bellamri followed him when he awoke, and their connection turned intimate within a matter of days.   After Dinah was born, Camryn and Bellamri have spent 99% of the time cohabitating in Camryn’s mortal form, Bellamri only returning to their home plane to visit a few days out of the year.   Even with raising his child and sharing a body with his spouse, Camryn continued rising in the ranks of his church of Sune, enough so that when the head of the local church he’d spent his career at passed (when Dinah was 8), he was named as the successor.   As such, Dinah was raised within the church, and taught the importance of beauty before all else. As she was exposed to the busy nature of the church through Camryn and the chaotic nature of dreams through Bellamri, she grew to value the beauty of serenity more than any other expression of beauty.   When they were 15, she met a cleric of Kelemvor who was visiting the church to discuss the upcoming multi-religious festivals. Dinah found themselves drawn to the woman, a dwarf named Stella. They spoke one evening, and in the conversation Stella quoted an ancient soliloquy: “To die, to sleep, perchance to dream”. Something in those words stuck in their head, reminded her of the way her parent Bellamri spoke of their life in the plane of dreams.   She pondered on this for a week, before an afternoon they were walking through the forest behind the town’s graveyard. They found an injured doe convulsing on the ground, wounded by an arrow. They sat with it, cradled it’s head in her lap and as she pet its brow, they felt an energy pass from her to the animal and it stilled. For the next few minutes, it blinked at her, until it passed.   That night, she dreamed on Kelemvor, always seeing him sat peacefully in the corners of their eyes, but never facing him head on. The next day, they spoke to their parents about dedicating herself to Kelemvor.   Camryn argued at first, but Bellamri understood where they were coming from, and convinced their husband that their daughter should follow her own calling in life. So Dinah began to study at a temple to Kelemvor, and began adventuring as a cleric a few years later
