Dhampir - Lineage

"Poised between the worlds of the living and the dead, dhampirs retain their grip on life yet are endlessly tested by vicious hungers. Their ties to the undead grant dhampirs a taste of a vampire’s deathless prowess in the form of increased speed, darkvision, and a life-draining bite.   With unique insights into the nature of the undead, many dhampirs become adventurers and monster hunters. Their reasons are often deeply personal. Some seek danger, imagining monsters as personifications of their own hungers. Others pursue revenge against whatever turned them into a dhampir. And still others embrace the solitude of the hunt, striving to distance themselves from those who’d tempt their hunger." - DNDBeyond

Kauvet

The presence of dhampir in Kauvet was not restricted prior to the Cleansing of the Blood in 190 AL, when vampires, fledglings, spawns, etc. were hunted to extinction by adventuring parties and fellow vampires alike. An agreement struck between House Strika and Princess Everly Lavandin in 189 AL led to the Cleansing of the Blood and strict rules set for how many vampires and dhampir may exist at any given time. Some from House Bellegarde managed to slip through the cracks, and others found work arounds for how to exhibit vampire-like capabilities.   Most dhampir in Kauvet are nobles of House Strika. Typically taking the title of Van/Ven/Von, these dhampir are often made into knights and nobles of the Grey Keep of Gratio, often achieving Dhampirism upon the slaying of another Dhampir and claiming their hunger for their own or obtaining this ‘gift’ from the Fangs of House Strika or the Baron themselves. Dhampirs are often more known throughout the lands than their Vampire counterparts and obtain an unspoken bounty on their heads as a result.   Should Dhampir begin to plague the lands, the phrase; “here there be monsters, so come forth monster hunters” shall be decreed to the guilds of the land. This process initiates a monster hunt for all guilds in the land, offering a platinum per dhampir fang (paid for by the crown family, see: Age of Lavandin) as proof of death of the monsters.   Dhampir are classified as humanoids, not undead. They are classified as alive because there's methods to cure dhampirism, but it's the grey area of being not quite dead although they are slowly moving towards death unlike vampires.   For more information on Dhampirism and Vampirism, see Vampires of Kauvet.
