Amros Samhain
Amros Samhain (he/him) is a character played by Hal (he/him) in the Brightgleam Gladiators one-shot. He was a tiefling, pact of the blade hexblade warlock/battlemaster fighter, and a soldier.
Description
Amros has dark purple skin, short blonde hair, teal eyes, a tail that ends in a triangle with small knobby spines along the length, and two broken white horns. He is 5' 7" and well-toned. He wears tarnished golden half plate armor with purple clasps. His sword is dark, almost formed of shadow, with an eye that opens where the hilt meets the blade. He also wields a rune-marked shield. Amros likes to lean into the intimidating presence he exudes as a demon person with a creepy sword. He uses corny phrases like "come and face your death in the eye!" and "my soul still burns!" in attempts to intimidate his enemies, who tend to cower a little less when he opens his mouth. For friends and allies, Amros switches this persona off. He's friendly and affable, but shies away from talking about his history as a soldier.Backstory
Five years ago, Amros was a military sergeant in the midst of war. Looking over the field of a coming battle, he felt confident. His scouts said his opponents were half his army's number, he would have the higher ground, and his men were better equipped. As the opposing army came upon the field, he led all units in an all-out attack to decisively wipe out the approaching enemy. And then the enemy reinforcements emerged from the forest. An massacre of Amros's soldiers ensued. Death surrounded him. He desperately tried to lead a retreat, but he was surrounded, and his ranks were broken. In his moment of desperation, Amros looked at the ground where one of his subordinates had fallen. The man's sword lay on the ground inches from his hand. Suddenly, an eye opened on the sword, with a large orange sclera and a thin grey iris. Willing to try anything, Amros accepted the blade's implicit offer and picked it up off the ground. His hand gripped it, and he blacked out. When Amros came to, he was surrounded by carnage. He alone was alive on the battlefield, allies and enemies alike all dead. Both his horns had broken off. The blade sat in his hand, eye closed. After the incident, Amros was discharged from the army, as his superiors called being soul-bound to a creepy sword a "potential conflict of interest." He now wanders the land as a mercenary, taking on jobs that fit with both his monetary needs and moral scruples.Trivia
- When able, Amros enjoys using his winged boots to fly around a battle, laughing maniacally, regardless of how effective it truly is.
- Hal has created a heroforge for Amros, seen here.
