Mari

Mari is the Seelie Kingdom's late Queen. She died after giving birth to Tiernan's younger brother. As she died, she, with Clíodhna's help, bound Tiernan and Fiachra into a death vow. Tiernan was to find his queen by his 200th birthday and if he was unable to, Fiachra would choose one for him. Fiachra was to take care of the kingdom properly so it would be strong once Tiernan took over.

I stood as well and followed him in. My mother lay back on the pillows looking pale, her bright red hair, the same shade as mine, strewn about her. Her face was pale under her freckles. Clíodhna, the Elder Fae, sat next to her holding her hand. Clíodhna looked somber. The midwife carefully took the baby from my father, and he sat down on the bed next to my mother.

"Oh, my loves," said the queen. "How I will miss you."
