Doctor Aelfred
The dwarven doctor at Nidavellir.
“Call the doctor, quickly!” King Ulrik hollered as he and his brother rushed over to us.
A dwarf with a long, braided black beard ran up beside me and felt for Niamh’s pulse.
“Weak but steady.” The dwarf held out a hand. “I need a wet cloth.”
Introduction to Doctor Aelfred in the books
Estrid gave each of the kings a stern look. “Doctor Aelfred says no mead after dinner, and that you need to drink your chaga tea if you want to have any hope of keeping your stomach functioning with all the meat you eat. He says you’re a medical miracle.” She winked at Niamh.***

Estrid nodded at Kylian, who continued arranging flour, sugar, and butter on the table. “This one can make a mean omelet, and he kept that mushroom broth simmering on the stove day and night to keep you alive. Which he fed you in little sips.”
“You should have some before you eat any pie.” Kylian filled a yellow ceramic mug with broth from the red pot on the back burner of the stove. “The dwarven doctor gave me a recipe,” added Kylian, setting the mug on the end table beside me. “Don't worry, it didn’t have meat in it.”
