You're in for a treat

General Summary

For some reason despite our having a genie waiting for us to give him a request, we decided to examine the contents of all the different platforms. Our baton holders, which is now officially Lili, Devan, and Milli; each gain four more crystals to power their batons. Lili shows Devan, now that he’s recovered from his deathly cold, her neat way of flipping the baton so she can safely sheath the electric blade. On the platform of metal ingots, there’s one white metal bar that feels oddly light that Lili takes. The rest of us each take two red-gold bars, though the Cap’n, being a strangely materialistic cleric takes four bars. I have no clue how he’ll carry them. I look over at the dead guy who attacked us and notice a strange tattoo on his upper right shoulder. Finally, Milli turns to the genie, “Please grant us the favor of opening the door.” The genie walks over and opens the door, as easy as that. No problems like we thought, only the floor started sparking and doing weird stuff. I was safe up on my platform, but everyone else was not so fortunate. Devan jumped up off the floor onto a nearby empty platform. Cap’n tried to jump out of the room but manages to fumble his jump and gets hit by the strange sparks. He said a few words I didn’t think a cleric knew. Makes me wonder if he spent some time in the army or navy. Those are not words I’m used to a cleric of the Creator uttering. Once everyone had managed to jump their way out of the room, Milli turns to the genie and says, “Please help us find Roan de Carville. He answers to that name and has a strange wooden doll.” Just as she’s saying that Cap’n is laying down doing his best to fall asleep. Only the genie runs off and starts opening every single door he can find and when he doesn’t find a man in there he keeps walking on. After a bit, Milli starts glancing behind her. “We need to pee on the floor,” Milli announced. “I’m sorry, why do we need to pee on the floor?” I ask in confusion. “We’re being followed and we need to make the floor slippery,” Milli announced just as if that made perfect sense. “I learned this living with the wolves.” “Devan should do it, he’s been sick for the last three days and should really need to go,” Lili agreed. “I’m not peeing on the floor,” said Devan, and thankfully that ended that conversation. Milli started looking through her bag to see if there was something else she could find to make the floor slippery. “Hey genie,” Milli asked, “What should we call you?” “El Ashamay,” the genie said. “That means comes with the evening wind,” Milli whispered to us. “Hey El Ashamay, I think the guy behind us might be Roan de Carville.” El Ashamay turned around and stalked his way down the hall and yanked a door open. Inside was a small pale man. “Don’t hurt me!” he cried out in Old Imperial. After calming him down, and questioning him for a bit we got he came down here with Roan de Carville. “I know where his body lies.” ”Hey Rory,” Devan asked for us, “Do you know where all of these automatons come from?” “They’re from the Elders Head,” which was apparently in the opposite of the way we’d been going. “We were shut up by those with villainous attitude and having found me in these halls. They betrayed him. He protected me, but was struck down by terrible people.” We follow him down the hall and head into a room that looks vaguely like a partially furnished room with only a wardrobe in it. There are skeletons that have been searched recently, judging by the dust around them. Their weapons are missing, and I’d guess one of them was a person of authority in a strange rusted scale armor. Rory walks over to the wardrobe and touches three spots on it and it swings open revealing a small room with bunk beds, crates, and a recently dead body. Devan says some kind of insult to the genie, and Milli asks him to ignore Devan, and the genie poofs after saying, “That’s three.” We all head into the room, but Cap’n who is examining the wardrobe for clothing or anything else interesting. Milli rolls the body over and we hear a switch click. “The door!” Devan yells as the wardrobe swings shut. We see glyphs glow briefly above the door and they change. It almost looks like they are counting down. Outside our room, Cap’n can’t remember any of us being with him for the last day. Inside our room, we try pressing the switch several times, but all it does is restart the countdown each time we do it. So we just let it count down, and when it gets to what I’m assuming is zero, the door swings open and Cap’n suddenly remembers we’re there. Examining the body we find a leather journal, a messenger bag with 4000 gold, necklace with four orbs, a wooden doll, and gloves. Under the bed is a teddy bear and Devan grabs it. I have no clue why, but he is happily cuddling the doll. Cap’n shapes stone over Roan de Carville’s body to allow us to sleep. Lili examines the items in the bag. The gloves are gloves of climbing and allow you to climb any surface. The necklace is a necklace of fireballs and if you detach an orb you can throw it to create a fireball. The shirt Cap’n found was a shirt of resist lightning. The next morning we realize we can ask Roan de Carville’s ghost through speak with dead about the doll and the contents of his journal. “What do you say to the doll to make it move?” Cap’n asked. “I spoke its name,” Roan’s spirit answered. “What is the doll’s name?” “Abigail” “What are the relics?” “I don’t know.” “What does Alan Riddle look like?” “He is a short man with a wispy beard and mustache. He has white hair, tawny eyes, and he smokes a lot.” “Can we trust Rory?” “You have that capability.” Well, that’s about as helpful as a soggy handkerchief.
