Endless Fighting is fun?

General Summary

We arrived at the moot stone, and after much argument, and our reminding him we are the reason he is able to be here (That's One ), he agreed we can come with him into the moot.

What is going to happen

After the priests have blessed us and allow us to drink the holy mead, they gather us to warn us, "As you head up the mountain, the bridge will appear three times. You must impress the gods to prove you are worthy to go into the city."

Climb the mountain

We climbed up through the mountains, there was nothing particularly interesting about the climb, and we made it to Waykeep right at dusk. There were already several other skalds there with their followers. Thane Stormsrage drops the 2 copper for each of us into the bar.   Most of the people there do not seem particularly noticeable, but Helga the barmaid is friendly, and in the back corner a gambler is challenging all who will come to him to take him on.   "Ooohhh, I'm gonna give that a try," Cap said excitedly, "Addie, I need some money."   I think back to some of the other times he's needed money, and reluctantly pull out 20 gold, "That's it. Have fun."   He headed off and happily gambled for an hour or so, I was quite surprised when he returned and gave me 70 gold.   Just as I'm trying to figure out what to do with the money Cap returned, a bell started ringing.

Frost giants!

Frost giants attacked the walls and the thanes all charged forward to fight them. There was a large clash of people and arguments, and slowly but surely the creatures fell before us. We gave a great cheer.   Then the cheer died in our throats as the giants stood back up and attacked again, healing the wounds before our eyes.   "Addie!" Cap yelled, "The bridge, the bridge has appeared behind us. We need to get the Thane to the bridge."   "But, we're leaving them to this battle," I yelled back.   "We gave our word to get him to the city."   I hesitated, and Marcus chimed in, "He's right, we've fought well against the giants, but we gave our word to get the thane to the top and we can't do that if we stay here and fight forever."   I grumbled and followed them up the bridge.
