Nylea is represented as a green-skinned dryad with wooden extremities, whose hair is made of vines and leaves that change with the seasons. She has also been known to appear as various animals, favouring lynxes and wolves the most. She has been known to transform into a tree in some accounts, usually oak, when she craves solitude and peace.

Centaurs, satyrs, humans and fey creatures are her most devoted followers. They pray to her for forgiveness when they hunt a dangerous animal or cut down a tree. As acts of atonement, they will also leave food behind for other animals or plant seeds.
