Channeler

Channelers are rare individuals in the popular, (considered less than 13%) who have the ability to draw from magical sources of light power and shape that power using runes, song, or the raw focusing of the Source itself.
Society is somewhat distrustful of channelers, as numerous rumors have been evoked regarding their morality, the Source of their abilities, and the sacrifices they apparently make. Among the rumors are that channelers are sadistic, promiscuous individuals seeking to create more of themselves by seducing young women and men. Also that their ability are granted alternately by either demons, Marduinn himself, elemental overlords, or some other mythical evil being intent on corrupting humankind. Additionally that channelers keep their abilities by sacrificing animals, humans, or babies, and that they are giving up a goodly afterlife to become powerful here in Tir Eriad.
Regardless of the rumors, many organizations actively seek channelers (or sources) from among the outlying villages. These individuals are offered scholarship and a better life by the best of the organizations, and are sometimes captured and placed into bondage by the worst of them. Channelers cannot recharge magic items, but can channel energy from a Source into those items. Additionally, there exist some locations in Tir Eriad where a wellspring of energy exists, and channelers who are in those areas (and in fact, some take hermitage in remote areas with those powers) act more like sources.
