Fang Whistles

While the fearsome sea serpents known as Drakon are not to be taken lightly, there are occasions in which either a carcass is found or a serpent is killed in some way that allows for goods to be made from their fangs and scales. As with many sea predators, they posess multiple rows of sharp teeth that grow in to replace ones that have been lost. Horns and whistles have long been made from these sharp remnants of an apex predator and are given as a token of luck or respect in seafaring cultures across Tipana due to the beautiful sheen on the fang as well as the prestige of owning such a difficult to obtain material. Small ones from the recessed rows of teeth or smaller Drakon are often worn on a length of twine or a chain and adorn the casual to experienced sailor. A larger fang from the set or from a more weathered contendor would be used as a small flute or even a high pitched horn by captains and the like to show status and command the attention of a rowdy crew. Fangs from the most fearsome titans to prowl the deep would adorn the ships of anyone from grand commodores to the famed Ryph Corsairs, often serving as war horns or ornamenting the captains quarters in plain view of all who sit before them. Part of the highest badge of office of the once-indepentant Dasana Isle even sported a wreath of carved Drakon teeth, and is said to still reside in the coffers of the Quasan capitol deep beneath the sea off the coast of southern Maiara.
