History
Began as Caston Edlennion declaring himself king shortly before kidnapping Thessaliá and murdering her lover and daughter. Caston was fascinated with Thessalia and her magic--her infinite well of power. He and his faction wanted that power for themselves.
Caston, in particular, was obsessed with making more infinite wells of power. He sired several children with Thessalia, and grew more and more enraged when each child didn't have the same depths of magic that she did.
Eventually, Caston passed but Thessalia remained in the custody of the Edlennion monarchy and their followers. For thousands of years, they held her against their will and continued to do all manner of cruel things to her. On 88 of Southern Low, 1 FT, Thessalia took her own life, accidentally enacting the non-conflict spell.
While Thessalia was the main reason the Edlennions were in power, the opposing faction at the time didn't have enough influence to turn the people to their side. With the curse active, there was no way to form a coup and so the Edlennion line was there to stay.
