Vessix, god of aberrations

When Zohronox abducted Pleione, it was thought that she was taken against her will, but only her and Zohronox know what truly happened over the time of her ‘imprisonment.’ The Goddess of stars is the only deity whom Zohronox does not hate, and unfortunately, the Dark One has no idea how to express his love in a healthy way, so to him, abducting Pleione was a reasonable course of action. Once he had her, he was not sure what to do with her, so he spent most of his time simply admiring her. The goddess, unafraid, struck up a conversation with the god of night, and found that even though he was wholly evil, he was also simply lonely. After a time, she seduced Zohronox, and then shortly thereafter made her escape with the assistance of Celina and Ashtar.

Some time later, the union of Pleione and Zohronox created a child: Vessix. Its birth was kept secret by the goddess of stars, and once it was born, she left it with Zohronox. Unfortunately for the rest of the pantheon, Vessix was as irrevocably evil as its father, and like its father, connivingly creative; the mindless monsters: slimes, oozes, and puddings were created by Vessix, and it considered these creatures templates for what was to come. After some perfecting, the Monster God created the first aberrations: illithid, aboleth, beholders, and similar creatures, which it then subsequently unleashed on the population of Thyr. This led to the Aberrant Crusades, a war that engulfed all of Thyr and lasted for several millennia, as all of the sentient races united to fight against Vessix’s tide of nightmarish horrors.

The Aberrant Crusades ended only with Xassalt’s interference; Vessix refused to back down, and rose to challenge the Progenitor. For its hubris, and disruption of the balance, Xassalt struck Vessix down, the only time she has had to use this extreme measure. But, despite its death, gods never truly die, especially ones that are still worshipped and invoked by their followers; stuck in an agonizing torpor, the Dead God dreams of the day of its resurrection and taking revenge on the pantheon that shunned it.

Religion and Dogma:
None, no one could explain or understand anything the aberrations did in their religious ceremonies because they were never observed or even seen to have any to observe. However, there are still strange altars carved from basalt, onyx, bone, or other materials with bizarre and baleful symbols etched into them that are found in areas where aberrations lurk, where these unknowable creatures participate in dark rituals and rites to venerate their dead god. These areas are always unsettling and completely devoid of any kind of wildlife or insects, eerily and insanely quiet in their foreign purpose, almost as though reality itself is holding its breath. The only thing that is constant is there seems to be one symbol that appears repeatedly, and it is considered to be the dead god’s symbol.

Appearance: Before it was struck down, Vessix was a mass of writhing tentacles with multiple eyes surrounding a mound of quivering purple flesh with one large central eye. Now, its divine corpse seems to be a mass of flaccid, gray tentacles that stretches as far as the horizon with a single bleeding eye hovering over the landscape.
