Sisinus

The Mercane built the floating city of Sisinus above the Goldfall Mountains shortly after the end of the Age of Agony, and quickly established it as the economic center of the world. From their seat above the world, they control all of the major commodity markets of Thyr: Livestock, metal, and agriculture, and in most of these, they have a monopoly, and if they don't, they are trying to gain one.   Due to being the economic center of Thyr, this is one of the busiest cities in the world, with a study stream of air traffic going in and out; though the Mercane have designated the construction of moon ships as confidential, they have shared the technology for building airships (for a price, of course) with most of the other kingdoms in Thyr, mostly on Halirune, but for those who do not have access to these ships, the Mercane have set up taxi stations beneath the floating Feltoraid River that ferry passengers to the city above (for a modest fee).

Demographics

75% mercane, 24% alloyds, 1% other

Government

The Mercane government is based on Free Market economics, and as long as commerce is not impeded, the Mercane allow just about anything.

Defences

Besides the alloyds, the mercane have many arcane defenses in the city: the docking bays are outfitted with anti-air pulse generators, which can cause any airship caught in the field to plummet out of the sky; the bottom of the city features stone plates that can be opened to reveal a multitude large ballistae; if invaders manage to reach the city proper, parts of the streets can be folded up to create barriers and close off streets, directing the enemy force into choke points and kill boxes. The mercane may not be warriors, but they understand warfare.

Industry & Trade

As the economic center of Thyr, industry and trade throughout the world depends on the economic gears to keep turning.

Infrastructure

The mercane have channeled the floating part of the Feltoriad River into the city, and used it to create canals that provide water and transportation throughout the city. They've also built docking bays for the many airships, and colossal warehouses to house all of the goods and materials they are always moving.   This is also where they dock their moon ships, and they have specialized docks that are only accessible to themselves and their alloyd servants.

Districts

The city is built as a circle, and it is divided like a pie into four districts:
  • Alpha District: Where all the business is conducted, more money than most Thyrians see in their lifetimes changes hands every few minutes.
  • Epsilon District: Giant warehouses full of various goods, materials, and livestock reside here, with alloyds doing all of the menial labor; this is also where the docking bays for the many airships can be found.
  • Theta District: If an overnight stay is required, most mercane will offer hospitality, but for those who are not here on business, there is an assortment of inns, restaurants, casinos, and other distractions in this district.
  • Sigma District: Mercane homes are located here in all their palatial glory, with each neighbor constantly trying to outdo the other in their ostentations excesses.

Assets

Anything the city may need at any given moment can be found, money is no obstacle here.
