Ognyan, god of fire

Ognyan roared out of the chaos on the heels of his flightier sister, Nephele, and he immediately began to bicker with her. His hot temper and equally chaotic nature indicated to Xassalt and the Three that this could not be anyone but the Lord of Fire.   It is this rather contentious and competitive relationship that kept both Air and Fire with the other deities. Like his sister Nephele, Ognyan is prone to tantrums. These are generally kept at bay by his sister the Lady of Water. He can also be gentle, providing warmth, comfort, and light. But given too much freedom he can become far too enthusiastic, resulting in unintended consequences.   Religion and Dogma The clerics of Ognyan are usually brash, loud, and prone to emotional outbursts. They tend to work furiously to complete the tasks which are given. Due to the nature of their devotions, the temples of Ognyan are always built of materials which are non flammable. Each temple, regardless of size, has a flame that burns constantly due to the endless devotions of Ognyan's clergy. While it may seem tedious, it is considered a great honor to be charged with the task of keeping these fires burning.   The vestments of an Ognyte cleric are layers of yellow, orange, and red silk which mimics the shine and sound of the flames of their Lord. His holy symbol is the artistic representation of a flame executed in bronze on an obsidian disc.   Blacksmiths, cooks, woodsmen, people who live near volcanic features, and sentient fire creatures are among Ognyan's followers. Generally devotions include prayers to keep fires burning brightly and to keep his more destructive aspect at bay.   Appearance: Ognyan is known for being completely hairless, due to his inability to keep it from singeing. He is generally perceived to be whatever race or ethnicity that the person to whom he is appearing choses to see him as, with ruddy orange skin and flames dancing in his onyx eyes.
