Halvar, god of earth

Halvar did not want to leave the chaos. It was only through careful coaxing and cajoling from Nerina that he ever appeared at all. He is a stubborn god, set in his ways. This stoic and unrelenting personality told the Three and Xassalt that this was the Lord of Stone. He is known by the Dwarves as the Earth Father, as he was the progenitor of the first dwarf.   The quarrels of his elder brother and sister are beneath him, however, he has a good solid relationship with his sister Nerina, and with Thyra; they can usually move him to action. Generally, he is the most solitary of the four elemental Lords, though if he is in company, he prefers that of dwarves. He created the dwarves, carving them from stone from deep within Thyr and breathing life into them; they have been his faithful assistants ever since.   Religion and Dogma: The clerics of Halvar are known for their dogmatic and unwavering devotion to their Lord. His rites are strictly structured and have changed little over the millennia. His temples are constructed from whatever naturally occurring stone is available in the region. If no stone is available, then mud bricks are frequently substituted. Stone, however, is preferable.   Halvaran clerics don't wear traditional vestments like the clergy of the other elemental Lords. Instead they prefer practical, utilitarian garments that are conducive to the environment in which they dwell. These garments, while varying greatly from region to region, are usually made of grey and brown linen canvas.   The religious symbol of Halvar is an artistic representation of a mountain carved on an unpolished disk of stone.   Miners, stone masons, engineers, gem cutters, and dwarves are among those who worship Halvar. Devotions are made when new mines are excavated, when the cornerstone of a new building is laid, and when a Dwarven child is born.   Appearance: Halvar is known for his solid, muscular build and his extraordinarily long beard, and he always appears as a short, stocky man carved completely of stone, with glittering gemstones for eyes.  His eyes constantly shift color to different gemstones. It is said that devotion to Halvar is why Dwarven culture developed the values based around facial hair.
