Celina, goddess of the moon

The quiet sister of the brash sun, Celina is the lady of the moon. She was created to keep the darkness at bay throughout the night. So much primordial clay was used to create her brother there was little left to create Celina; as a result she is a pale reflection when compared to her more incandescent brother.   When Mirith was created, Celina experienced a curious side effect. She fell in love with the Green Sovereign dragon, Mastagos. Concern that he did not reciprocate her feelings left the Lady waning in her beauty and brightness. When his love was assured, she began to shine once more. The stages of her light are directly related to her relationship with her beloved Mastagos. WIth the disappearance of the dragons, Celina has not seen her beloved Mastagos in quite some time, yet she continues to shine in the hopes that he will one day return to her.   The union of Celina and Mastagos created the elves, and for a time, some of their children would accompany their father as he travelled Thyr. Some would then settle in some of the places he would stay, and thus were born the various subtypes of elvenkind.   Religion and Dogma The clerics of Celina are quiet, graceful and serene. Frequently they are drawn from humans with some elven blood, half-elves, and full elves. The churches of Celina are constructed of limestone of purest white, with an opening in the roof so that their mistress' phases may be tracked. Every elven city has a temple to the Moon Goddess, even the xenophobic Wood elves. The phases of Celina are referred to by the clergy as the "Many Faces of the Lady."   The clerics of Celina favor robes of silver silk with a gossamer shaw overlaid. This shaw is white on nights of the full moon, black on nights of the new moon, and silver on every other night. Her holy symbol is a crescent moon.   The worshipers of Celina include women in all stages of life, particularly those of a child bearing age. Other followers include natural lycanthropes, elves, sailors, navigators, and illusionists.   Thyrians pray to Celina to protect them from Zohronox. She is also called upon for sweet dreams. Parents frequently bid their children good night by telling them "may Celina guard your sleep." A moonstone under the pillow supposedly protects against nightmares and Zohronox's ire.   Appearance: Celina is extremely beautiful, second only to Mirith. She has straight white hair and silver eyes in whatever form she appears.
