People and their History

Who used to live in your active campaign space, and what’s their history?

  • The world above the water was originally ruled by Dwarves they arrived on the planet during its creation and named the world The Shattering. A thousand years later the Giants, Gnomes, Elves and Orcs arrived with some lesser races. Humans arrived 300 years after these races followed quickly by the Lacertilian Tribes and Goblins. The Sirena have been on the world since the Dwarves arrived and have been the dominate humanoid within the waters of the world unchallenged for most of their existence.
  • • Ruins, ancient structures, and great portals arrived with the forming of the world. Some structures came with the peoples who traveled to the world. Other ancient structures were created by races or species who were small compared to the other kingdoms in locations no traveler had gone.

Which species/cultures live here now and what’s their history?

The worlds primary populations consist of 3 Dwarven kingdoms, 2 lands of the Giants, 5 Elven domains, the Orcish Empire, lands of the Lacertilian Tribes and several Human Kingdoms. All oceans, seas and lakes are controlled and inhabited by the Sirena Nation.
    • There are several new races who have claimed previously forgotten or uninhabitable areas of the continents. The Dwarves, Elves and Giants have controlling sections of the continents each dominated the vast sections working as the world’s oldest alliance. The elves control the temperate forests, the giants have moved onto the ice and have left the lands to man and the Dwarves control nearly all mountainous domains. All three races have communal cities within the tundra.
    • The Lacertilian Tribes have taken control of the vast desert. Although many are primitive there are those who arrived in silver vessels who fought in the great war with the gnomes. These Lacertilian are said to have huge cities under the desert where they mine the earth to create fuel for their vessels.
    • The Orcs and Humans control the rest of the continent; grasslands, shrub lands swamps and savanna. The orcs control the other goblins. While the Humans have incorporated the halflings into their communities. Both the humans and the orcs have near peer influence and militaristic abilities causing a continual struggle for dominance.

What do they need, and what do they need from each other?

The Dwarves, Giants and Elves need to maintain their dominance over their territories leading to each aiding the “lesser” races from time to time to control their lands.   The Human populace is constantly growing with each influx of new arrivals primarily consisting of the species. Each new arrival brings their cultural idea, and this means a power struggle within for territory and resources. The humans have begun to build floating cities and large ocean vehicles which has allowed them to populate the waters, they have also received technological advancements which allow them to build under water vehicles and habitats. This has strained relations with the Sirena whom the humans have great respect for, but their hatred of the orcs and need to expand has hindering their relationship.   The Lacertilian and Sirena seek to maintain their lands and have utilized slaved labor to do this. While the Lacertilian have not hid their usage of slaves and even breed and sell their own. The Lacertilian see all other species as inferior and wish to return to the stars in order to return and cleanse the planet. The Sirena do not make their usage of slaves officially known and utilize pirates, orcs and other species to be their go between keeping their activities secret. Like the Lacertilian they do not see the other races as their equal and would utilize any of them as slaves to harvest their agricultural needs and mine their materials. However, the advancement of the Orcs and Humans onto the oceans have caused them alarm.   The Orcs have recently begun to understand farming and domestication of food staples allowing them to build larger cities more in line with their human counterparts. They have begun working with the Lacertilian in providing human salves in exchange for technological advancements. This has come to the attention of the elves and dwarves leading to the races to become more active with the humans, even becoming members of human communities. However, neither race has been willing to share their technology or magics with the human populace as a whole but will for certain groups or orders. The Orcs have great respect for the original races of the world, but despise the humans as noting more than thieves, murders and opportunists.
