Opacus Crater

The Opacus Crater is a large crater located on the center of the grasslands continent.  When walking up to the crater one first notices the ring around the impact site appears to have been raised into a perfect circle, now marred due to mining. As one looks down into or attempts to look across the vast chasm their vision becomes obscured by a haze which seems to emanate from with the crater.  Opacus Crater is nearly 3 miles from Tikili Village which is the closet settle to the create.  Due to local legends and superstitions most other populaces avoid the area as a settlement. Although people do come to observe the natural beautify of the area and to visit the Gate of the Fallen Gods.

Geography

The Opacus Crater is a large crater on Thrymmatizo measuring 25 miles across and a depth of 3 miles. The crater is smooth on the inside and bowl-shaped. The ground inside the crater is dark grey like ash and in the reflected light of the sun causes a obscuring view in all directions. Along the outside of the Crater is a small ridge. Igneous rock within the ridge as produced shocked quartz and limestone.

Limestone and Quatz can be found within the ring of the crater.

History

Scholars have indicated the crater was created sometime after the arrival of humans onto the planet. Although many religious leaders claim the crater was created when the planet was being formed. The one fact both agree upon is that the crater was not made from volcanic activity or the impact of a meteorite.

Tourism

The Gate of the Fallen Gods is located on the Western side of the crater. The Gate is a large doorway carved from bones of a colossal humanoid creature. The frame of the doorway has been intricately carved to depict scenes of an epic battle between two great beings and their vast armies which according to legend consisted of angels, demons, gods and vile otherworldly beings. Scholars debate whether the door is a opening into another world which has been locked or an entrance into this world which is open due to a lack of doors within the doorway itself.
