Vanderdrone Inertial Dampeners

Vanderdrone Inertial Dampeners are used in all aspects of daily life. Originally created for use in space travel, Vanderdrones are microscopic drones which are controlled by a central computer. Small enough to travel through cells, Vanderdrones utilise Van Der Waals forces to move themselves through matter (e.g. through the air, or through solid bodies), and work together to grab and secure objects. For people in space travel, vanderdrones will enter the body and secure all parts of them, including things like internal organs. They will then move the body in sync with the ship as it accelerates. This creates an effect which resembles the air 'shattering' and turning translucent. This effect is most pronounced when a ship's acceleration or direction changes, but will clear as the ship's trajectory continues and becomes easier for the computer to predict. 
Vanderdrones are used in other industries these days, and in more technological cities they facilitate things like faster elevators, railings, and even new forms of sports.
