Vincent Beck (a.k.a. V, Vin)

Born in 1995 on a farm in Northern California, Vin was the first kid in what was to become a very big family. When the Collapse happened a year later, the farm and the whole town it was attached to died and Vin's family became homeless. At the time, they consisted of his mother and father, named Yanna and Mike, his uncle Jon and his wife Bethany, and his uncle's 'best friend' (and Vin's godfather) Tommy and his wife Lara. Didn't take long before Jon and Tommy came clean and told everyone they were lovers. Turned out their wives knew and their relationship turned into this weird and wonderful little polycule. Jon was with Bethany, Tommy and Lara, Tommy was with Lara and Jon, and Bethany for a time had a thing with Mike. Yanna was more of a one guy kind of woman. Anyway, the rest of them soon started having babies in various constellations.    There was nothing left of their home, so they tried to find somewhere else to live, but there were millions of refugees after the Collapse. So they became Nomads. It was tough going for a while, until their went south and met Juan Aldecaldo and joined his Nation when Vin was about 4 years old. The Aldecaldos were prospering, they were well-armed, and travelling with them was much safer than going it alone. They ended up travelling with a small pack that mostly roamed NorCal at the time. And Vin's own little family kept growing. His little brother Chris was born in 2003.
Vin didn't think much about his gender growing up, but when he hit puberty at 12, he started to feel like there was something wrong. Even though he'd grown up with a female name and female pronouns, he somehow hadn't expected his body to start developing in a female way. The person he initially talked to about this was his uncle's boyfriend, Tommy, who was very supportive and tried his best to help him figure it out. Then Vin made friends with a kid a couple of years older than him, Chip (a friend's OC), who was also trans, and they started navigating it all together. Tommy helped him pick his name, Vincent. The family was very accepting and adapted quickly to the new name and pronouns, as did the pack, though there was a sort of transitional period where people would default to his deadname (which also began with a V), cut themselves off, and correct themselves. 'V--sorry, Vincent.' After a while, some of his cousins started calling him just V, and it stuck.
Vin and Chip were separated when Yanna, in early 2010, discovered an abandoned farm in NorCal she was sure she could make fertile again. It had an uncontaminated groundwater spring nearby and the soil was a lot better than in most other places. So she convinced her family to leave the Nomad life behind. No more contract work, no more farming for others, they could live off the land like their family had always done. They were now a family of 6 adults and 8 kids, and Lara was pregnant. She gave birth on the farm, and Bethany had another one a year later, bringing the total to 10 children.
It was hard at first, getting the farm viable again. They started with growing alfalfa to try and get some of the acidity out of the soil, and it worked. Soon they were rotating various vegetables, grains and legumes. They made money supplying various settlements. They also started growing weed when Tommy discovered some wild-growing Kush nearby, which also made a tidy profit. Vin got involved with the weed growing. Tommy was also a mechanic and taught Vin everything he knew, starting him on the path to tinkerer and techie.
They still had contact with various Aldecaldo families for a while, until late 2013 when Juan Aldecaldo got the Mexico City re-development contract and every pack in the lower half of the states went with him.
The farm grew and prospered, they even hired some hands from nearby settlements, and for a while, things were really good. By the time Vin was 18, they had enough money to pay a doctor in a nearby city for a testosterone injection implant so he could start his medical transition. 
In 2015, Yanna was contacted by a representative from Biotechnica. They’d noticed how prosperous the farm was and wanted to buy it to study the soil and water. Yanna insisted there was nothing special about it, that it was just good old-fashioned know-how and a bit of luck, but Biotechnica kept coming back, and she kept saying no. One night, disaster struck and the farm was hit by Raffen Shiv. Vin’s father and brother were killed, as was Tommy’s wife Lara and their oldest daughter, Leah. There were too many Wraiths to fight, and the rest of the family fled. When they returned a few days later, the whole farm was a pile of ashes and they couldn’t even find the bodies among the cinders.
Yanna was convinced the Wraiths had been hired by Biotechnica in retaliation for their refusal to sell them the farm.
Now the family was homeless again. They considered heading to Mexico, but by then the contract had been completed and the clans were returning to the US. The Aldecaldos left California again after burying Juan Aldecaldo, however, going East, and no Aldecaldo pack was to return to NorCal for nearly five years. The family went it alone for all this time, setting up camp near settlements.
During this time, Vin set up several small weed farms in abandoned sheds around the Badlands with complex security systems. He travelled between them to maintain, harvest, and cure the buds, and continued to make a profit for himself and his family. About a year after the raid on the farm, he had his top surgery at a clinic in Night City. The results were adequate.
In January 2020, a large Aldecaldo pack led by Santiago Aldecaldo himself, whom Juan had appointed leader of the whole nation on his deathbed, showed up in the area, and the family joined up with them. Johnny Silverhand returned with them, having travelled with them for over six years at this point. Vin met Johnny, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Vin grew up working on his family's farm. His uncle's mainline Tommy taught him to be a mechanic. When the farm was destroyed, his main job was helping Tommy with maintaining his family's vehicles and weapons, but he also started a weed farming business. Once they rejoined the Aldecaldos, Vin mainly worked on the motor pool. After moving to Night City, he became a mercenary. During the 4th Corporate War, he joined Morgan Blackhand's Shadow Ops team.

The loss of his family members and destruction of the farm. The death of Tommy, even though he wasn't there. The loss of his friend Jordan on the failed mission to rescue Rache Bartmoss. The Arasaka HQ attack.
