Vern
Vernus (a.k.a. Vern)
Vern is a donkey kept by Loth'a Vyrion at his cottage in the Briary of Molisloth in Lesser Imesse. He is a male donkey that is 30-years-old and whose primary duties are the transportation of items, supplies and baggage belonging to Vyrion. Vern lives in a comfortable stable behind Vyrion's cottage with his fellow donkey, Manny. His Elvish name is Vernus, which means "springtime", but he is known as Vern by all his neighbors.

Special abilities
Vern, like his companion Manny, has the ability to understand Human and Elvish tongues but because of biological limitations cannot speak them. He hears and understands both Elvish and Caldarian we well as a smattering of Arian.
Vern typically uses head movements, hoof movements, and (usually loud) vocalizations to convey his understanding of questions or comments directed to him as long as he is comfortable with his interlocutor. If he is unfamiliar with or uncomfortable around people, he will remain silent.

Vern is notoriously helpless when faced with the opportunity to eat apples. It has been noted that he will follow an offer of sweet red apples for miles and miles without complaint or hesitation.
