Syllektis
Syllektis
Syllektis is the name given to an Iron Dragon that visited the region of the Dragon Hills in what is now the Barony of Dunrick in the year 189 AF. The dragon was very social and extremely polite and stayed in the area for more than eight weeks in the late spring and early summer. The dragon identified itself as a male from the "far west" but never actually named his home territory. He did speak of living in a "city" for many years, but experts and witnesses alike are baffled by what this might mean.
Syllektis was noted to have flown into the area of the Town of Woodam, circling the town for nearly an hour before landing in a large open field nearly a mile from the town gates. He sat there, quietly and patiently, and waited for the understandably terrified townsfolk to investigate his arrival with a small group of very heavily armed and mounted knights. It was then that he clearly explained what he was hoping to do in the region and asked permission to visit the town regularly to ask questions about the area's history, geography and the stories and legends associated with it.
He was especially interested in the local understanding of the stories surrounding the Red Dragon of Cyell of centuries past. He listened with fixed attention to anyone that cared to share their understanding of the myth, and offered material rewards for information he found important in the form of shed claws, hide, scaled, blood and Dragon Oil, a nearly priceless gift under any circumstances. He also offered knowledge and insight into the solutions for particular problems or issues that the people brought to his attention, such as a better design for plows used by local farmers, formulas and recipes for a superior quality of ceramic glaze to be used in local kilns, and a method of concentrating the alcohol in beers, ales and porters into a much more potent drink he described as distillation that has made the brewers of the area huge profits in the decades since.
Then, after just more than two months, Syllektis circled the Town of Woodam one last time, calling a very loud and heartfelt thank you to all the residents, and flew off westward, never to be seen in the area again.
