Monsum (Mon-soom)

God of Mountains and Caves, creator (according to the faith) of GiantsGnomes and Dwarves and the protector of the earth's precious elements. Most commonly depicted as a gigantic stone humanoid, he is often described as the keeper of great secrets. He is most familiar to the faithful because of his prominent role in the ancient but very popular epic poem Journey of Raynere.

Divine Domains

Monsum is the god of mountains, caves and the deepest portions of the earth.  Earthquakes, landslides and avalanches are considered his handiwork, for good or ill.

Holidays

The greatest of Monsum holy days is known as the nue terrestra in Arian ("earth night") which is always celebrated on the second new moon after the winter solstice and generally falls between early January and early February on the Arian calendar of holy days.  The feast is celebrated with bonfires, feasting, singing and story telling, especially the telling of the poem Journey of Raynere, which can take hours to recite in its entirety and in which Monsum has a very prominent role.
