Umbral Key Territory

The South part of Thousand. As the house of scholars and mages, Umbral Key's districts can be wildly varied depending on the tastes of the wizard presiding over them. It is also home to several arcane universities.   South lies The Frost - a chill in the air can be felt across all of Umbral Key, but in particular the districts bordering it are bitterly cold. This has fostered a certain independent pride from the people there; their culture, style of dress and manner of speaking has diverged from the rest of the city.   Players have visited the following districts in Umbral Key:    

Umbral Gate

A Northern point in Umbral Key that borders both Golden Sun and Lotus Rose territories. This district has a few notable landmarks, chief of which is the largest public library in Thousand. Shops include Hosun the Wearzard, a clothier/enchanter. The players have also seen a flyer for 'The Hexless House', a hotel that provides a peaceful night's sleep for people cursed or plagued with nightmares.    

Emporium

South of Umbral Gate is the territory's chief market district. Unlike other trade hubs Emporium prides itself on selling strange and esoteric goods, many of which are magical in nature. This makes it something of a tourist trap area, and it is always bustling with people.    

Winterbite

Southwest of Emporium is a bitterly cold slum known as Winterbite. The group investigated it for possible werewolf activity and found its residents locking themselves in at night for fear of getting snatched in the street. Later, they found themselves pursued by a pack of lycanthropes.    

Lost Secundis

One of the Southernmost regions of the Frost is the Secundis district, which is now considered lost - left inhabitable after a flash-freeze instantly killed most of its residents. What remains is a graveyard of a town, with every house standing empty and every front door bearing prayer papers that state 'EXORCISED'. The cold still lingers, rendering ice spells doubly effective and fire spells almost useless. The town is silent except the whistling wind and eerie cawing of crows, which can be seen everywhere; the group discovered they were scouts for Khazba, a priest of Zhun, who keeps an eye on Secundis and several other lost districts.    

Ten Houses

Ten Houses is in Western Umbral Key and floats on the edge of the large lake within that territory. It is comprised of a series of floating boulder-islands that are capable of moving away from the city. The residents of Ten Houses claim that when the district moves outside Umbral Key's borders it is no longer bound to the usual laws and practices of the city - particularly pertaining to illegal magical experiments. Unsurprisingly, most of its denizens are amoral mages and fervent worshippers of An'nai.
