Shops of the Star Market

The Star Market district, located central to Golden Sun territory, has quite a few shops to peruse.

Z Brothers Alchemy

A strange old man with blue-tinged skin. His style of clothing marks him as someone from the southernmost regions of Umbral Key, near to the Frost. His brother Zadika buys/sells jewels and other goods in the shop next door.   His shop is a smoke-filled den with uncorked potions lining every shelf. Zuual seems unaffected, but players will get light-headed if they spend too long in the shop.   Zuual is a skilled alchemist who can brew most potions the players require, but for anything particularly complex (or illegal) he points them towards Setsuna.

Z Brothers Arts

Zadika runs this shop, which sells jewellery and art items. Brother to Zuual, equally blue-tinged and equally mysterious. He wears a striking hat, in which are embedded two eye-like glass gems. Both of these move and swivel like real eyes, looking for thieves.   Random selection of goods:

A rather small glass sculpture of an elephant.    A small tapestry of a map. The predominant colors are light green and blue-green. It is in incredibly poor condition.    A very small tapestry of an archaic god near a dock. The predominant color is deep red. It is in average condition.    A small sketch of a bird near a bridge. The predominant colors are dark green and blue-violet. It was done in an energetic style. It is in good condition.    A small fresco depicting a bard with deep blue eyes. It was done in a particular artist's style. It is in excellent condition.

Pay-Per-Paper

The aging tortle Old Lim mostly sells maps and some books and sometimes has a limited selection of low-level spell scrolls. He is a wandering merchant and can sometimes be found outside of the Star Market district as well.   Bought by players:

Songs of Simple Alchemy: non-fluent comprehension in one elemental language of your choice. Advantage on rolls pertaining to simple alchemy. 2 charges after which the knowledge provided by the book is exhausted. (Kyto)   A Tome of Innovative Thaumaturgy: one complete spell change without needing to level up, after which the book is 'used up'. Can only swap out spells of level 2 and lower. (Yunhu)   The Manual of Formulae: the time needed to create something practical, from a set of shelves to (potentially) a magic item is halved. 3 charges, after which the knowledge provided by the book is exhausted. (Sekket)   Exercises of Celestial Transformation: a new age-y sort of book that nonetheless has some info on celestial beings. Unique ability for Tera: when dreaming, allows her to talk to her deva in clear conversation rather than muddled thoughts and images. Comes at the cost of swapping the benefits of a long rest for that of a short one. (Tera)   Lizardly Digestive Systems: gives advantage on rolls pertaining to lizard-creature anatomy and feeding habits. 3 charges, after which the knowledge provided by the book is exhausted. (Lun)   Inscriptions of Wise Wisdom: grants you permission from the DM to look up stupid jokes for use during a game. (Lun)

Pajamas n' Armours

This shop sells a variety of non-magical weapons and armour, but has a tidy side business selling clothes (not just pajamas). The weapon/armour craftsmanship is fine, but probably not up to Sekket's high standards. The middle-aged smith-tailor Shida is jovial and trades for a fair price.

Gnome Depot

Just outside the market proper, this warehouse sells all manner of practical materials and tools, but can also do custom works and weird inventions. It is run by the gnome Deomo. His green-feathered bird Kiki flits around the shop, keeping an eye out for anyone trying to steal.

Places to Eat:

Lu's Booze and Stews: A simple food store run by Lu. 5 cp for a filling meal.   Kobold Fried Chitin: Serves traditional kobold food, aka fried insects. Surprisingly popular with the locals, even non-kobolds. 4 cp for a meal, 2cp with Vonk's discount.   Snackoyaki: A chain restaurant. Meals for 3 cp, but so tasty that buyers roll a WIS save not to immediately buy another. Yunhu has been the victim of this before.   Grill Power: Run by a beefy half-orc lady who does a really good steak. 5 sp, heals for 1d4.

Places to Stay:

Inn-n-Out: The cheapest possible place to stay, but not overly comfortable. Like most cheap hotels, it charges a fortune for the extras.   Ale Be Damned: Mid-range tavern. Does good drinks and attracts the sort of clientele that really like beer. Gets a bit rowdy on an evening.   The Thirsty Wyrm: Mid-range tavern. A quieter alternative to Ale Be Damned and tends towards less beery drinks. Current favourite hangout of the party.   The Devil's Dew: Very fancy establishment frequented by tieflings. Serves drinks with little umbrellas in them.
