Vulfen are an intelligent, but bloodthirsty race of humanoid predators. They are also known as Wolfmen for their fur-covered bodies and pointed ears. Vulfen hunt in packs, killing and devouring anyone and anything in their path until exhausted or satiated. At that point, they rest (usually for a period of several days) to digest their prey and recover their strength. When in their predatory hunting state, they generally hunt at night and sleep by day. This is simply a habit that gives them the benefit of stealth. Their claws and fangs make for dangerous natural weapons, but Vulfen are known to also wield crafted weapons while on the hunt.
Unfortunately, because of their similar appearance and due to them hunting nocturnally, Vulfen and Werewolves are often mistaken for eachother. Such is the destruction and ferocity of the Vulfen's maddened hunting state that this mistaken identity often winds up being a worse deal for the Werewolves.
Basic Information
Strip away their fur and their wolf-like facial features, and Vulfen would look very much like Men with muscular upper bodies. This is why Werewolves are so frequently mistaken for Vulfen.
Civilization and Culture
Vulfen are ferociously indiscriminate predators while on the hunt. For this reason alone, one could say that they have no racial prejudices. However, for this same reason, other races tend to be wary of them if they are spotted.
It should be noted that some Vulfen are able to manage relatively normal lives in heavily populated cities. These Vulfen often satiate themselves by befriending a butcher and being a regular customer. However, even for these well-adjusted Vulfen, the call of the wild does beckon them to perform the hunt at least once a month. Often times, these city Vulfen will notify local officials of this so they may be as cautious as possible not to hurt anyone prior to setting out into the woods at night for their hunt.
