The Old Religion
There are countless lesser gods worshiped and revered throughout the continent, but the most common religions are first based on the beliefs of the Vetus. The Old Religion, that of the Old Elves, is not one of worship and sanctimony that the humans would later impart, but just of acceptance and understanding. The Gods are of the world and each one plays a part in the creation of reality.
First, there was Io, it was all, Io split itself into twelves aspects, the Gods, who then manifested and became the world as it is known.
Mythology & Lore
The Gods, as the world found itself forming, quarreled among themselves as to how they should handle existence. As they fought they established two sides, good and evil. Their bickering escalated all the way to war until the two eldest Gods stood between these two factions, holding them apart and eternally separating them. These two are known as Katus, the stable land we walk, and Rhea the chaotic waters that change.
Residing in the skies above, the five good Gods, Linium, Aleria, Gerana, Yolana, and Saren are the embodiments of peace, love, life, joy, all that mortal beings would consider holy and good.
In necessary contrast, deep below in the dark depths, the evil Gods, Rolterra, Eshsalqua, Mal, Rajuk Amon, and Voration, created war, betrayal, misery, destruction. The dark side of the world that inhabits all.
Cosmological Views
This world, this universe, is all that exists. The phrases 'heaven' and 'hell' do not refer to a metaphysical plane of existence where Gods reside but indeed to the skies of our world and the deep unreachable depths of the world.
When one dies they are returned to the world and are born once again, those holiest and most worthy are reborn into the night sky, joining the holy Gods as a star.
