Cailleach's protection

Transmission & Vectors

Cailleach's protection is the easiest blessing to obtain from this Storm hag. With Cailleach's permission, her priests can bestow this blessing upon others with a simple ceremony involving burning incense and eating bread.

Causes

It is often given to those who have proven her a great service while facing danger. The blessing is meant to lessen or completely negate the creature's suffering by Cailleach's own hand or the hand of her children.

Symptoms

Minor: Cailleach would like to bestow you with a small gift for your hard work.
When taking cold damage, a creature with Cailleach's minor protection may roll 1d6 and subtract the rolled number from the damage taken.
Normal: The Queen of winter acknowledges your hard work and suffering.
A creature with Cailleach's protection becomes resistant to cold damage. All cold damage they take is halved.
Major: This creature is truly loved by the Queen of winter and will no longer be harmed by the cold winds.
Creatures that bear Cailleach's major protection are completely immune to cold damage.

Cultural Reception

Although Cailleach's protection is the most common blessing given by Cailleach and can be given by her priests, it is still difficult to obtain the blessing. Simply giving her offerings isn't enough and people are well aware that people with this blessing have not only obtained her favour but also risked their lives while doing so.
For that reason, the bearers of Cailleach's protection are generally respected as it is a sign of their daring nature.
