Quicksilver - Class Battleship
The Quicksilver - Class Battleship is a large military starship designed and used by the Republic of Miasi.
Like most Miasan starships it is equipped with large, powerful thrusters which allow it to achieve far greater acceleration than other battleships. Although it retains an excellent, very powerful armament, it almost lacks armour. The Quicksilver - class was designed to compete with both the Thunder - Class Battleship and Conquest - Class Battleship, which are both Alti Dominion battleships. The HF has helped with designing the fire control system, so it can have a longer range than contemporary Alti battleships. Due to its acceleration, it can evade volleys of rounds more effectively than Alti battleships, so the Quicksilver - class was designed to kite enemy battleships. With fewer, larger weapons and higher velocity, it is excellent at neutralizing enemy heavy ships from long range. These ships have a long track record of performing this role effectively, and have been used for a long time. Because of this, a large number of these ships have been made and are still in active service.
Powered by a large array of 4 fusion reactors, along with several large tanks of hydrogen that are used as fusion fuel, this ship has a good level of redundancy in case one fusion reactor is damaged in battle or some other incident. For propulsion, the ship also uses fusion thrusters. Waste helium is also ejected at high velocity to radiate the ships heat and to help the ship accelerate with more force.
Due to its size, the crew can be harmed if the ship accelerates at a very large rate. They can feel massive G-forces at these times, which can kill most species. There have been attempts to get around this problem in a similar way that HF did in Ultra-Accelerative Starships - by filling the ship with water. This will drown the crew, unless they wear equipment to protect them. They had to introduce a whole upgrade package to account for this. Only a number of ships in service have this package, because they require a lot of supplies, are expensive and it can be much more inconvenient to move within such a ship with this kind of gear, and socialization is almost impossible, which hurts morale. Communication is done through radio. These types of ships also need very large doors to seal a few air-filled compartments when in battle or under intense acceleration. The crew cannot eat while underwater.
