Neo Fabric

A highly advanced material used in clothing for many species of the HF.

Neo Fabric, though it would be expensive to many factions, is cheap and easy to produce in large quantities due to the post scarcity society nature of the HF. Many types of Neo Fabric are available with different properties, such as high heat insulation often worn in colder conditions ('cold' is relative to the species wearing it). Different chemicals may be fatal to some species but could be vital to another species' biology, so Neo Fabric was designed in attempts to use as few potentially dangerous chemicals as possible. It has a high elasticity for comfort but despite this also a high tensile strength to prevent it from tearing and potentially poisoning a particularly vulnerable species. It was designed in a way that all of the atoms will remain in the specific clothing item, which should make it completely safe to all organisms. They have to be cleaned and repaired with replicators, but this, and its high strength mean that items crafted with neo fabric can last an eternity.

It can come in a huge range of colours, including colours outside the human visible spectrum, which makes it excellent as a cosmetic material. Due to its very strong nature, it will retain this colour for an extremely long time, often outlasting people despite life extension technology. The high strength of the material can also serve to protect a person from many hazards such as cuts and heat, but not from heavy impacts, ect.

Clothing can vary significantly between species and cultures. This often has roots in historical influence as well as the psychology of the species in question.

Some species might not wear clothing. This includes some with very complex anatomy which might not be able to put it on easily. The Irziell also usually do not wear clothes because it makes them more visible (they have evolved with a psychological repulsion from being visible to predators) However, as to not insult the cultures of the rest of the HF, they might be given holograms to simulate clothing. These types of holograms can even simulate the feel of clothing.
