Temple of Keranos Latromantis

OVERVIEW

Across from the Immolation Altar of Mogis opens the temple of Keranos Latromantis, where pilgrims come seeking answers and inspiration from the oracle of Keranos. The temple is completely open and only the columns, all unique and created by different artists, protect its interior. The south side opens abruptly to the cliff. In the center of the temple stands the statue of Keranos, above which opens a circular hole in the roof. On stormy days, lightning strikes the bronze sculpture through this hole, protecting the rest of the temples from destruction. A stone staircase opens at the foot of the statue where a circular room houses the oracle, and where offerings of the faithful are brought forward. There are always artists of all kinds in the temple, seeking epiphanies. The dancers of the Astrapion rehearse their work daily, guided by the beautiful melodies created by the musicians attracted here in search of the genius that will enlighten them.
