The First Basilisk

In Pharika’s earliest days, her mind overflowed with knowledge, and she retreated to a secret, verdant glen. There, she set to scribing her secrets into the garden’s fruits, hiding within each a dozen deaths and their cures. When she retired wearily to bathe, a lizard crept into her grove and gobbled up much of the fruit. It’s said that this original basilisk and its progeny are still heavy with undigested secrets and that if basilisk blood is distilled into ink, it can be used to write out forgotten lore.
This massive basilisk still lives to guard Parika's Pen from any who would use its wonders for foul purposes. The most valuable secrets of the sealing ritual are contained within this creature's blood and can be found by defeating it and absorbing the blood with the Pen.

The Basilisk's Lair

In that corner of the Nessian Wood that Pharika had visited, that verdant glen has become a dark place with a cave mouth that opens up into tunnels upon tunnels, carved out by the Basilisk and its kin. Deep under the earth, smaller basilisk and snakes and cockatrices congregate- pulled to this Ancient Basilisk by the strength of its power. Littered with statues of its previous victims, the Basilisk's home is a look into the past and hopefully not your future. Travelers must navigate the tricky depths and avoid smashing into a statue and giving away their position in order to reach the center of the cave system where the Basilisk sleeps, coiled around an egg-shaped stone. 
Within the stone, transformed with a remove curse, wish, or greater restoration is Pharika's Pen.
