Sages have recently taken to calling items such as these “Lover’s Lockets”. It’s a moniker due in part by the fact that such items are sometimes found in the possession of grieving widows or widowers, as well as entombed alongside dead lovers. A highly controversial theory states that extreme love can imbue certain items with strange powers. If the frequency of these items is to be believed, this would indeed seem to be the case. As one might expect, clerics dedicated to love deities typically confirm such notions. Although Lovers Lockets can be crafted on purpose, they are usually found in the aforementioned circumstances.
This item is a set of two brass lockets. When each is worn by a pair of individuals who both consider themselves friendly towards each other, several powers manifest. Both individuals can sense the exact location of the other if they are within 1 mile of each other, including direction and distance, as well as the direction and rate of travel if that person is moving. They can also sense each other’s surface thoughts. For example, one would know roughly how distressed or injured the other is. They can also communicate telepathically at about the same rate that one could speak out loud.
