Sinderion Shadowglass

Few and far between are those among the elven people gifted with the power of an Oracle. Even rarer are those born to Oracles that survive the lifetime of anguish set ahead of them. The First Oracle's life would be relived time and time again, until their bloodline ended sometime during Zero Year. Sibling to Rugo the Allmaker, Sjur was blessed with unfathomable power, like her brother. While Rugo was gifted the power of creation, Sjur was able to peer into the folds of time, determining possible futures and their pitfalls. Unfortunately, she was just one of many pawns Rugo would use during his rise to power as he created the Dratarian Empire. Sjur was fed medicines that would induce her visions, allowing Rugo to emerge victorious from every battle. As he grew in power, the medicines weakened hers, causing both her physical and mental sight to lessen with each vision. Rather than let such an incredible boon slip through his fingers, Rugo simply increased the amounts of medicine she was taking, until her vision had finally slipped away entirely. When it had, Rugo simply discarded Sjur and claimed her son as his ward, resuming the process. Many unique magics like Sjur's visions were passed down through bloodlines during the Dratarian Age, and if the god emperor was to maintain his throne, he would need to keep such precious blood safe. The children of Sjur became known as Oracles, able to view the future before it could happen. When Rugo was slain by Khora, loyalists to the empire escaped with the Oracles and hid them away, using them throughout Zero Year to establish territories and empower warlords. This would end, however, when the last Oracle caught a glimpse of a terrible future: the sun bleeding into the cosmos beyond, the sky a horrible shade of red, the everyday people marred by scars and foul magic. There was nothing she could do, though, as the catastrophe would take place close to two millennia later.   And so, the Oracle managed to escape her prison with her infant child, seeking out a talented mage she had heard was nearby. Gaius Carius, not due to be born for another thousand years, was surprised to find she not only knew of his time-altering magics, but also of his affiliation with the Navigators, a group he was only in the beginning stages of founding. She gave him her son and her journal with instructions on what must be done to prevent the future she foresaw. With the infant in one arm and the journal in the other, Gaius returned to his time and raised the boy as his own, naming him for one of the Elven Gods who fell during Khora's ascension: Sinderion.   Sinderion trained from an early age to be a conjuration magic specialist just like Gaius, becoming quite the prodigy with the arcane by a very young age. He understood the theories and writings of the Archmage Rayzadora with little effort, all while honing his Oracle abilities. Many generations separated him from Sjur, and the power of an Oracle had weakened long before Sinderion was born. The effort it takes to manifest a vision for the young elf is immense, often leaving him comatose for days before he can move again. Soon, it became clear what he needed to do, and whom he needed to protect and guide to prevent the coming catastrophe: The Chain, a group of adventurers who would one day find themselves facing off against titanic beings far beyond what power they could muster. Throughout the years, Sinderion would check in on them, disguising himself with illusions and putting obstacles in their way to see their progress. His careful watch eventually paid off when, with the combined efforts of the Chain, the Blood Drunk Court, and the Dead Rose crew, the Red Sky was averted and its perpetrators brought low. Thus began the first time in Sinderion’s life where he didn’t need to drain himself of his energy by glimpsing the future every few days, and could instead actually be a navigator. He has since dedicated himself to finding new Navigators out in the stream of time, helping them to understand what they’ve accomplished and what must change now that they’ve mastered time manipulation.
