Merai was born a part of the Lavellan Clan in 9:14 Dragon. She quickly grew into a skilled hunter, and in 9:40 Dragon, she was sent by her Keeper, Istimaethoriel, to investigate the peace talks of the Mage-Templar War at the Conclave.
Following the explosion at the Conclave, Merai was instrumental in forging The Inquisition. During the ensuing fight against The Elder One, she was named Inquisitor, in charge of leading the new Inquisition.
