The Party arrives at Phandalin and Sildar Suggests they secure lodging at the local inn. The party agrees to meet Sir Hallwinter at the Inn as they still have to drop off the provisions at the Trading Post. The party makes their way to Elmar's Provisions where they drop off the supplies they were hired to deliver, get paid and do some shopping for their own supplies. Once the party finishes their business transactions they make their way to the local inn. Xavien seeing a shrine across the street from the inn tells the party he would like to make a quick visit to it before they go to the inn. There they meet a elf priest named Sister Garaele. She informs them that it is a Shrine dedicated to Tymora, goddess of luck and good fortune, and asks if they would like to pray. Most of the party agrees with the exception of Aether who decides she will go on ahead to the inn.

Aether makes her way across the street to Stonehill Inn, where she notices a fellow in a dirty red cloak leaning against the wall outside the inn alone. She makes her way into the establish meant and hails the innkeeper, asking about her friend Sir Hallwinter and informing him that herself and the rest of her companions will require room & board. The innkeeper informs her that Sildar had asked for a room and turned in early. Meanwhile back at the Shrine Sister Garaele asks the party if they are adventurers as they certainly have the look about them. She asks them if they might work a job for her. She wishes to asks a banshee named Agatha a question as to where the location of a spellbook belonging to a legendary maged named Bowgentle may be. Garaele sought out Agathat a few days back but the banshee did not appear for her. Now she wishes for an intermediary to bring Agatha a gift in hopes that this will intice the banshee, a jeweled silver comb. She offers the comb to the party and tells them she can provide three potions of healing as payment upon completion.

The Party then makes its way to the inn, Xavien notices the red cloak fellow leave and walk down the road as he enters the inn. Upon entering Duncun's attention is immediately drawn to a dirty grimy looking dwarf smoking a pipe, a barmaid deleiving six shots and a mug to the fellows table. Duncun makes his way to the dwarfs table and introduces himself and asks the dwarf how things fair. The dwarf introduces himself as Lanar Leadbelly and tells Duncun how Orcs are raiding the eastern hills and he has not been able to work his claim for a tenday all the while taking a shot inbetween each sentence. Duncun distraught at the fellows poor mood, orders a pitcher and of ale and some food and joins the dwarf, Kailo joining them. Aether moves to stand in front of the table of a middle aged woman and just stares at her. Xavien curious about the man in the red cloak, asks the rest of the party if they noticedd the fellow, then informs them that he will step outside for a moment and see if you can locate the man. Aether decides to join the elf wizard in his search and as dusk falls they decide to go investigate the old manor ontop of the hill on the east side of town.

Xavien and Aether make their way up the hill and see the Manor is dilapidated and unoccupied. They notcie a trail of footprints in the dust on the floor, they follow it leads them to what was once the kitchen and downstairs into the cellar. To their surprise they find that Kailo and Duncun had followed after them - and now that the two of them are standing by the stairs debating what to do the other two have caught up. Duncun takes the lead and goes down the stairs and knocks on the closed door. Duncun waits about a minute then busts open the door. The door opens onto a five-foot-wide landing fifteen feet above a large cellar, with stone steps descending to the floor in two short flights. Another door stands beneath the stairs to the north. A large stone cistern occupies the western part of the room, whose walls are lined with kegs and barrels. As Duncun steps out onto the landing he sees a man in a Red Cloak below walking towards the door and stops as the two make eye contact. Combat ensues and the party makes sure to knock the fellow out for questioning. Kailo opens the North western door and two more red cloaked figures attack the party. After making short work of the other two our party then goes to question the one they left alive. He informs them that they are a group named the Redbrands and that they are "entrepreneurs" looking to make some money in Phandalin. They are lead by a wizard who goes by the name of Glasstaff. After questioning him about the layout of the cellar where he informs them the north east door leads to a hallway that leads to a crypt, Duncun then curbstomps the fellow leaving him dead.

The party dons the red cloaks as to disguise themselves and make their way to the hallway where thick dust covers the flagstones and the walls are decorated with faux columns every ten feet, and the double doors at the west end of the hall are sheathed in copper plate green with age, with a relief carving of a mournful angel gracing them. Kailo notices a pit trap in the hallway and informs the party and directs them to scoot along the edge of the walls. They enter through the copper double doors and find three large stone sarcophagi standing within the dusty crypt, and propped up against each sarcophagus is a human skeleton clad in bits of rusty mail. False columns along the walls are carved in the image of spreading oak trees and two different door on the north side of the chamber. The party is nervous to find skeletons propped up, despite them being unresponsive. Duncun lights them aflame and kicks them to the ground for good measure. Then the party goes about desecrating the sarcophagi. The stone lid of each sarcophagus is carved to depecit a human of noble bearing, they pop open the lids and find moldering bones and cloth as well as a platinum signet ring in each, the signet is that of a bird of prey.

Aether cracks open the north east door and takes a peek inside where she sees a cell with a young boy dressed in a grey tunic and a iron collar around his neck, with a redbrand outside the cell taunting the child. Aether cast poison spray on the Red cloaked fellow then the party busts the door wide open to to find another cell on the south side of the room- with two women inside and another redbrand taunting them. As well as a pile of clothes up against the eastern wall. The party gets a scuffle with the two redbrands killing them and the older woman begs them to save her and her children....
