Session 17 - Best Friends Forever

The Party:
Aether – Level 5 Human, Circle of the Moon Druid
Duncun – Level 5 Human, Battle Master Fighter
Barack'O - Level 4 Half-Orc, Bear Totem Barbarian

Report:

After defeating the patrol guard the goons go about searching the bodies. Barack'O finds a necklace adorned with a rod with one end having three shallow holes, on the body of the Snake-lady, and some gold amongst the rest of the patrols corpses. The party decides to explore what is behind the other door in this particular hallway. Barack'O opens the door and sees what lies beyond appears to be some kind of torture chamber. A table in the middle of the room has old blood stains and is strewn about with vicious-looking hooks and prods. The room is also inhabited by four, serpent malisons men. Two having their heads in the likeness of that of a snake, while the other two appear to have snakes for arms, their hands being snakeheads. Out of the corner of the room appears a large abomination a snake with a humanoid torso and arms. The two groups engage in battle. Barack doing his best to hold the snake cursed at the door, with Aether moving in and out of the room, Duncun shooting arrows, Xavien, and Arqwyn throwing spells into the room at the enemies. The party soon finds that the serpents have dipped their arrows in poison, while each bite of a snake sends venom through their bodies. After a difficult battle, the goons prevail though badly weakened. They decide to retreat for the day and rest back in the upper levels of the ruined temple.

The next day the goons make their way back to the lower level and upon reaching the staircase they see one of the robed covered humans at the top of the staircase, in his surprise draws his scimitar, and yells downstairs, and Barack'O flies into a rage closes the distance and cuts him down with his greataxe. The body of the scout rolls down the stairs and the party charges down facing three more robed figures as well as one of the snake-headed malisoned. After defeating the patrol the goons make their way back to where they had left off the previous day finding all the corpses in the hall had been moved to the torture chamber. The group continue their exploration and come across a hallway littered with the corpses of similar robed figures that they have encountered, and a double door on the southern wall. The door is locked and there seems to be no keyhole, instead of trying force their way through the party continue exploring to the west where they find two more doors both of which have crudely written signs saying "DANGER!" hanging from them. Barack opens the door despite the warning and finds more corpses on the floor as well as a suit of armor displayed in the corner of the room. The moment Barack'O steps into the room the inside of the armor begins to glow red and moves to attack the half-orc. The party soon discovers two more animated full plate armor from the other side of the room join in on attacking the intruder. The goons quickly realize that their weapons barely have an effect on the constructs and Aether magically imbues Duncuns quiver to give him magical fire arrows. The moment Aether steps into the room and wild shapes into a lion one of the armors breaks off and attacks her. After being hit by one of Duncun's fire arrows the third flys over Aether and begins to attack Duncun. By some sheer luck and desperation Aether casts a dispel magic on one of the animated suits and is able to break the magic that created it. Eventually, the goons manage to put down the other two. and notice one of the armors has a metal tine tied to a necklace around its neck. The tine looks similar to the rod that Barack found earlier and upon inspection find that the tine fits into one of the holes in the rod. With Aether declaring "Best friend necklaces!"
