Report:

A tenday has passed since our heroes have cleared out Wave Echo Cave. The previous week was spent by Duncun clearing out space in the basement of the manor to lounge, Aether went about helping Nundro enlist miners to work the once lost mine, Kailo helped Gundren in being his bodyguard on the way to Neverwinter, and Xavien just chilled. In Neverwinter, Gundren spread the news of his goons exploits and the rediscovery of the lost mine of Phandelver. A half-orc by the name of Barack'O interest became piqued when one of the goons descriptions a young human druid matched that of a young child that had healed and saved his life five years ago. Barack'O signs on to deliver supplies to Phandalin so that he may see for himself if this is the person he owes his life to. Sure enough, once he makes it to Phandalin he recognizes Aether and asks to join the goons. Aether and Nundro get quite a bit of prospectors open to working wave echo cave as they have grown uneasy prospecting in the hills to the east as several of them have reported being chased away from undead near and around the ruins of Old Owl Well.

Aether, Barack'O, Duncun and Xavien decide to head east to Old Owl Well to investigate the reports. The first night of travel they hear wolves howling throughout the evening until eventually, eight ravenous wolves attack the parties camp. On the second day of travel, they head off the trail to make a more direct line for the well. They encounter a lone oak tree with a young child crying at the base of the tree. The party investigates and asks the child what it is doing out in the middle of nowhere all alone. The boy named Billy explains that he got lost when he ran off the trail against his parents' wishes. Dunucn is suspicious of the child and would rather leave the boy where they found him, but Aether can not leave a lone child out in the wild. The goons take the boy with them as they proceed to old owl well.

The party makes it to Old Owl Well on the third day and spy the crumbling ruins of an old watchtower standing amid the rugged hills. The place is so old that the walls are only mounds of rubble enclosing a courtyard. Adjacent to the broken stump of an old tower they see a colorful tent has been set up in the middle of the courtyard, but no one is in sight, As they enter the courtyard the smell of a deathly odor wafts from the tower’s direction. As Barack'O gets near the tent, a dozen zombies shamble out of the tower. The Goons slay five of the undead before a stout, red-robed figure with sallow skin, a shaved scalp, and a black tattoo on his forehead, emerges from the tent asking “What is the meaning of this?” The party introduces themselves and the red-robed man introduces himself as Hamun Kost, he is interested in the tower ruins as it is a remnant of the ancient Netheril Empire. Xavien recognizes the forehead tattoo as an arcane symbol for necromancy and asks if they can help him in exchange for some knowledge into the necromantic arts. Everyone except for Duncun help excavate the staircase to the underground level of the tower. Aether asks Duncun to watch Billy, Duncun agrees but takes a nap instead of keeping an eye on the child. After clearing the path the gang finds Duncun asleep and the boy missing.

The party goes and investigates the underground chamber of the tower, runes on the floor begin to glow and becomes brighter and brighter until it is blindingly so. The light dissipates and the goons find themselves standing in what appears to be the ruins of a city in a desert. Worn and broken alabaster structures peek through the surface of the sand, and several ramshackle buildings dot the side of the road. Two figures walking along the road wearing white keffiyeh and robes look shocked at seeing the group appear out of nowhere and begin running down the road. The party makes their way down the road hoping to find some information as to where they currently are. They hear a raised voice yelling “I AM NOT A KOBOLD, YOU IDIOTS!” and notice a five-foot-tall, green-scaled humanoid surrounded by three scruffy looking human men who are clumsily prodding at her with walking sticks and look as if they have been drinking. The men look at one another and one them exclaims "We'll surely get a reward for this one's ears!" The green-scaled dragonborn yells in frustration and breaths a cloud of green gas up into the air. The men scatter in fear and the female dragonborn turns notices the party and says “I hate when that happens.” The party introduces themselves and asks where they are and where that is in reference to Neverwinter. The dragonborn introduces herself as Arqwyn and informs them that they are in Rasilith and far east to the city of Neverwinter. She looks the group up and down appraising them to be adventurers and asks if they are interested in work. Arqwyn needs help exploring a ruin she believes may hold an ancient magical relic and is willing to pay them 5,000 gold. After some discussion amounts themselves, the party agrees and Arqwyn takes them some miles to the entrance of the ruin. As they travel they continue to see the ruins of what appears to have been once a large city. Furthermore, as they travel the environment seems to suddenly flux from a hot sandy desert to green lush grassy areas and back again. Arqwyn and the goons make their way to the entrance and go down the shaft leading to the ruined temple. The shaft leads into what appears to have once been a living quarters and as they exit the rooms door it spits out into what appears to be the main temple and place of worship. as Barack'O moves up to investigate the statue behind the altar the two rough-hewn stone pillars flanking the altar come to life and begin attacking the newest member of the goons....
