The Divinity of Dragons

Through text and accounts from both Elven Archives and Dragonborn Apostates, Dragons are older than the gods and have lived and fought against the ancients, giants. Where the magic that the dragons yield comes from varies differently based on accounts and but no one will disagree on is that they are powerful. Each dragon is born with a innate mastery characteristic this can be elemental, metaphysical or even more abstract an inexplicable. As varied kinds of powers while gods tended to host control over a number of things dragons are always limited to one, This limitation has never diminished the impressiveness of a dragon from implementing a strong control over natural magics. What has given the dragons their divine title, is their ability to done dragonborn, by giving of themselves in a spiritual as well as in physical form usually in a scale, blood or talon clipping anyone can become a dragonborn where they will take on the characteristics of the dragon that they choose to bond with dragonborn tend to be more fervent in their admiration to their bonded dragon and the exact nature of that devotion of those bond vary from dragonborn to dragonborn. See The Iconography, Worship and Reverence of Dragons section of this article for some examples.

The Three Forms

Dragons are known to alter their appearance out of necessity or convince their natural forms are of great pride amongst the dragons as one of the handful of species to survive past the age of Faegor. When a dragon is ask why they keep such large forms when they could change them at any point to its common response to be see their natural forms as a way pay homage to those times as well their own ancient lineage. While a dragons natural appearance consists of a variety of complex features they all share a few aspects first being reptilian in nature, and a large breathing canal that often acts as a multipurpose tool for to channel their innate magics.

Winged Dragons

Winged dragons are best known for their well wings, while wings are not exclusive to a winged dragon a winged dragons largest feature are its wings. A fully grown winged dragon wingspan usually is about 500 feet, beyond their dominants trait these dragons also have a long necks with surprisingly smaller bodies in comparison to the rest, these dragons are most commonly known to be breath some sort of elemental, Ice, lighting, water, fire, etc. Each will also contain features that represent their nature for example the dragons of lighting will have metal horns that attract lighting bolts to them. These dragons are most commonly the elemental in nature dragons with the exception of earth dragons who are all serpent dragons, thought some are metaphysical of this type do exist in particular the sound dragons are more commonly winged ones.

Serpent Dragons

Serpent dragons are characterized by their long tails and short to non-existent limbs contrary to their cousins the winged dragons they tend to not breath elementals though this rule is not absolute, they are more commonly know for a magical presence, the emit an magical force similar to vibrations these pulses will do a number of things based on their characteristic. These tend to be most metaphysical than the counterparts, some examples include tunneling, wealth, breath and faith though some elemental do exists the most well known serpent dragon is the Dragon of Prosperity Bay living in the waters of the bay they've been very elusive and only appeared a few times, he is very reclusive but can be clearly identified by his spine of coral.

Weird Dragons

This is section is for dragons that do not fit in either of the above categories but manage to speak and refer to themselves as dragons. Some debate if these should also be considered ancients but as they have identified themselves as dragons and other dragons refer to them as a dragon we tend to yield to their communities decision.   The progenitor of the category and oddly enough the most conversational the Cosmos, Dragon of Absence, who lives or in is a thick fog bank yet remains unspecified as every person who has gone to ask the dragon this question has received similar coy and mocking answers. Reptilian nature is only able to be determined by the forked tongues flick out of the fog between phrases and the large scales standing in the earth spares throughout the fog that disappear when the fog leaves the place and as a clear sweeping winds between fog are often empty that we've guess are breathing canals.

Followers of the different Divine Dragons each old different ritual and customs according to their follower, that said Dragonborn of their dragon are without dispute leaders in their communities that said some communities can be as small as 1 or as large as hundreds of thousands. The most revered dragon in city of Zamarrid is Emula, Dragon of Wealth followers of Emula, stamp her symbol on every coin that they trade, the special ink used to stamp it can be washed with a simple prestidigitation spell or strong amount or common soap but will remain mostly intact without intent to remove it. There is no official Zamarrid coinage so the symbol has become a defining mark of the city. It is a good sign that the particular coin has passed through Zamarrid at some point if you come across it at any point. A topic to be covered in detail in page dedicated to Emula but everyone who purchases the ink and places her mark on the coin to varying degrees believe that Emula is giver of good fortune and will help them in their trades.
