Demon's Thread

Contrary to its name, Demon's Thread is a resource used and produced by both the Wraiths and Spectres of the Wraith Globe. Harvested from cocoons of the Fagnaór of wrath, Aânira, within the lowest levels of his fortress in the outer plane of Pandemonium. Furthermore, the process through which the thread is extracted from the crimson cocoons is time-consuming for the average hand, causing the harvesting of Demon's Thread to be an extremely dangerous endeavor. Some specialized vendors have Demon Thread experts to make this process safer and more reliable, but this only causes a steeper price from those suppliers.

Properties

Physical & Chemical Properties

Demon's thread has multiple special properties that make it suitable for adventuring situations specifically. When used to sew, the thread can bind together any clothlike materials no matter their differences in properties, and any marks made by the thread in the process disappear seamlessly a few moments after being applied. Furthermore, when the thread is woven into clothes by a Wraith or Spectre, that fiend can subtly manipulate the wearer of the thread or even cause them bouts of psychic damage.

History & Usage

Refinement

After scraping off the fuzzy outer layer of the cocoons of Aânira, the most skilled seamstresses can weave the fuzz into a fine thread: Demon's Thread. For this reason, spools of Demon's Thread often are broken sections of thread, but the miraculous properties of the thread can bind these lengths together seamlessly into a full spool's length.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Because of the location and nature of its harvesting, the only places in which Demon's Thread can be bought for most are specialty vendors that sell products from all throughout the Intraversal Wraith Globe. However, it is not unheard of for Aânira to provide trusted allies or even cultist higher-ups with a spool of Demon's Thread on occasion.
