Terramulta

A dark haired beauty in a red dress smiles at the man watching her as she dances past him, part of a line of equally beautiful women. The man raises his glass of wine, smiling as he watches her, and behind him his friends elbow him and whisper in each other's ears.   Three elderly men sit on a bench outside a shop, leaning their backs against the old bricks. They tell stories about the life they once knew, and make ribald jokes about the young women who walk past on their way to market.   The sun beats down on the rooftops of a quiet street, the people inside their homes sleeping through the hottest part of the midday. Climbing vines and plants along the walls of the buildings wilt gently in the sun, and even the birds are still.   Terramulta is the social hub of the southern states; hotter and much more lively than the Hinterlands, the region is filled with citrus and olive groves, the air heavy with the scent of growing wine grapes. Life in Terramulta is good and easy, and the people are of laughter and good natured mischievousness.

Geography

There area is dominated by a large, active volcano named Kutapika Moto ; this volcano has erupted in living memory and although it means that the region is extremely fertile, the people do remember the ash and the fire.   A lot of the natural beauty of the region has been either subverted for human use or completely removed; however, the orchard groves are very beautiful.   Very hot and dry in the summer, Terramulta enjoys sunshine for most of the year, with thunderstorms and rain in the winters. As one moves further south the region becomes hotter, closing in on the equator and Nyanja, the equatorial islands that neighbour Terramulta.   Hurricanes and heavy storms are an occasional circumstance which can cause problems in the areas they occur in. Outside of the storms, there is little rainfall in the summer. The only snow that falls is exclusively in the Malennan mountain range and then only at the higher peaks.   The people of Terramulta are used to hot summers and mild winters, and tend to struggle when outside of this type of climate.

Fauna & Flora

A lot of the natural vegetation has been removed to make space for orchards, towns and businesses. There is still some forest left near the mountains in Malenna, although this has also had to make space for the mining businesses that have carved a large part of the mountains out. Most of the vegetation in Terramulta is man-planted in the form of orchards and farms.   Salamanders and other lizards are common, as are snakes, some poisonous. Foxes and deer can be seen, foxes inside the towns scavenging are seen as a pest and are often killed. Falcons and eagles are frequent sights in the skies. Fish are common in the waters both in and around the region and form a large part of the people's diet.
