Background Character Advancement
Background Character Advancement
Background Characters will gain skill rank per year according to their grade and realm. They will distribute this between cultivation and their best skill until they hit the cap, and then put it into other skills. They will advance small realms once they are within 7 of the DC. They will advance major realms once they are within 4 of the DC. They will always use a tribulation array and gain average breakthrough traits. Character Grade
S: 2 Ranks per action
A: 1 Rank per action
B: ½ Rank per action
C: ⅓ Rank per action
D: ¼ Rank per action
E: ⅕ Rank per action
Realm Actions
Apprentice: 1 Action per year
Warrior: 1 Action per year
Master: 2 Actions per year
Grandmaster: 2 Actions per year
Monarch: 3 Actions per Year
Imperial: 3 Actions per Year
From my calculations this will give background characters somewhat better results than a secondary character with similar cultivation if they did training with the same number of actions. However they lack any ability to get traits, be trained by others, use treasures, etc. Also it means they will have less skill variety.
