The blood wars aren't one continuous war but instead a long series of wars between humans and vampires, which ended when the vampires were defeated and driven into hiding. between the start and end of the blood wars the world shifted between various stages of vampire control of society, sometimes the wars were separated by several decades, but alas, humans and vampires are incapable of coexisting.
