Midsummer

As depicted by The Standard Arden Calendar, an extra day is put in place after the month of Julet. This day is used to celebrate Midsummer.

The day itself has deep roots in the days prior to Arden's formation, and is typically thought to have been created when earlier civilizations and tribes noted that the hours of daylight were longest on this day. This led to many celebrations based around the Sun and any of the older religions dieties associated with it.

Throughout the formation of Arden and the centuries that followed, Midsummer has continued to be celebrated. However, with the rise of The Church of the Holy Light, the old traditions of praying to the Sun Gods has faded. Nowadays, the day is simply used for celebration in the middle of the summer season. with many Towns and Cities throwing elaborate festivals and parades. Some of the more religious locations in Arden do dedicate the day to the Holy Light, and prayers and offerings are often seen.
