Guardians of the Light

Legends, stories and myths are often told in The Kingdom of Arden about divine beings known as the Guardians of the Light. Thought to be a manifestation of the Holy Light itself, the Guardians have stood as a bulwark for the spread of the religion across Arden. Many accounts tell of an angelic being appearing at a time of great need. Reports during matters of life and death speak of these Guardians intervening at the last minute, often in subtle ways, which alters the outcome of the persons fate. At other times, often while an individual is alone, the Guardian will appear and interfere directly - be it with a great weapon to cut down the threat to the person, or a single hand that heal all wounds laid upon the victim. These stories are seldom backed up by other witnesses, but often mysterious miracles will be evidence enough. Most describe the Guardians as beautiful women, with wings of white and silver sprouting from their backs. Attire varies, with reports of simple white robes, masks, gleaming armours and weapons all being commonplace. Size varies as well, with some saying that the Guardian appeared the same height as a human, and others reporting up to 12 feet tall. Words of encouragement and wisdom are often shared, and a feeling of inspiration, warmth and enlightenment is not uncommon. The Church of the Holy Light has an official list of Guardians of the Light, each with their own domain within the teachings of the Church. Many religious places are named for these Guardians, and stories of their appearance are recounted in a plethora of religious texts. The current list stands as follows:
