Ekinjöed

"I am Hrrak, the chieftain of this tribe, and today you, son of Hörke, will lose to me."
• Chieftain Hrrak to Bombor Hörke before their duel
Ekinjöed, also known by their Elven name, Filnayad, which would translate to Skin Hunter, is a humanoid that for many, seems like an undead giant. Its dried flesh and sunken eyes are not the sign of health, but breath does indeed fill these lungs, as the hearts in their chests beat and thought run through their heads. They are extremely violent beings, crushing the bones of their opponents and tearing them apart limb by limb. The fear of experiencing such a death is often enough to make one take the long way around the areas they dwell in.   These large humanoids are believed to descend from giants, though some scholars have put forth a theory that they are a seperate race, possibly born through a sort of symbiotic faith to their gods: they believe in them, granting them some strength, and in turn, their gods bless them so they can grow stronger in their faith.   Ekinjöeds are hardly ever seen outside the Tribelands, where they hunt for the unaware humanoids for food, fun, and materials. Many of them wear leather armor, either stolen from victims big enough, or made from their skin. Some few can cast magic, and these individuals believe flesh of other such mages strengthens them, and they often wear bones of humanoids for good luck, to gain favour from their gods.
