The Lamoran Edda, 957
Many bards and adventurers have braved crypts dating back more than 250 years to find remnants of the full Edda among burial possessions. To date, only 12 verses are known and are stored in the capital of Lamorak.   The full extent of Penigal's lore is out there, waiting to be discovered...

Historical Basis

Penigal was the son of Lamoran General Varius Lo'qa and born around 924. While many legends claim his weak nature was cured by water from Frostfall Cave, it's speculated that Penigal spent most of his life under the strain of his own body until his death less than 20 years later around 943. The tales of his adventures are blurred, often embellished in children's songs and bard retelling. For example, in the battle of the Highland Crown, Penigal was purported to have stopped was only possible thanks to his parties earlier accords with the two sides and not because the blade split the battlefield in two. Other incidents such as the Therra'tesh fight at Lake Niab and the ascent to a floating Dwarven cloud city (later confirmed by the efforts of now King Ulf of Lowrean) are also up for debate considering the differences in individual accounts. When Penigal passed during his final campaign to seek a vessel known as the Avanen'dra (supposedly located in the City of Glass in Yashahan), his body was taken to the town where he was born in, Hal's End (the town of Hallot in the year 1189).   The blade was gifted by an unknown deity around 936, and possessed the ability to bend light into elemental attacks was confirmed by Collegium scholars a few years after his passing. The blade itself was stolen from the palace around 968.   Penigal's Prismatic Blade was seen at the Ulestis Auction House early 1189, having been in a collectors hands for the better part of two centuries. It was bid on by Dave the Lumberjack and an unnamed competitor. In the end, it was bought out by the competition and since then disappeared for a time.   The Prismatic Blade met it's end in Astrakane in the year 1189 when the Sworn stopped Floyd and his troupe from causing further damage to the moon. Using a rare celestial alignment, the troupe utilized the obelisk at the center of town to direct the energy of the blade towards the heavens. Having shattered the hilt, it's pieces were returned to the Collegium West for further investigation.
