The ability to soul cast and use old magic are regained by select individuals around the world, or rediscovered in ancient artifacts throughout the world, believed to be from the times of the Knight Radience.
After 300 years of lying dormant, humans once again found they had the ability to bond with a spren, and gain some form of power of either soulcasting or old magic. While it only manifested in a select few at first, others quickly became able to do the same. In the modern day, many people have bonded to spren.
The world of Roshar, and a number of the characters within this setting are from the Stormlight Archive series, which is written by Brandon Sanderson. These characters and this setting belong to him, and I do not claim to own these characters or setting. We are merely playing within a world that he created.
